Sunflowery gold...

The landscape here in Thoiry changes on a daily basis. When we left for our last trip to the states everything was green and full of random patches of red poppy flowers, but now everything has started to turn golden and sunflowery...

Happy Birthday Caos!!!

Happy 26th to a cousin whose more like a sister to me than a cousin...play some Whitney and take over Plough tonight like you do so well...HUA!!! Love you and miss you!!!

To Market to Market, otherwise known as Happy Sunday!!!

Bon dimanche everyone! I hope you've had a great weekend and gotten to do all of the awesome things you wanted to do. We've had a busy weekend here which included some softball, a little Hardronic Festival at the CERN Prevessin site, some gardening and some Sunday Thoiry market going.

[Thoiry Sunday market.]

[Our number one super fave legume stand.]

And now, without further ado, I'd like to introduce to you, our wicker basket granny cart.

[Ta-dahhh.]

Anyone whose ever lived in Philadelphia can feel the importance that the granny cart holds in daily food shopping, partly because if you drink the tap water you very well may mutate, thereby necessitating the need for something on wheels that is not a car to lug back refillable jugs of water. So here is the epitomy of two of my loves, being displayed by my love: granny cart, meet wicker basket. With our powers combined...

[It was really sunny, hence the squinting.]

A celebratory lunch was then held in the wicker basket granny cart's honor...well ok it's always held on Sundays, but we definitely had something exra special to celebrate today with out new fancypants purchase. Happy Sunday everyone!!!

Happy Birthday Danny!

Happy 29th to a truly kick-ass cousin. Rock out those Dungarees like ya mean it!!!

Good-bye dinner in Geneva...

On Thursday night we went out into Geneva for a going away dinner for one of our CERN buddies. It was a really cute little restaurant called La Trattoria with awesome old Italian records hanging from the ceiling. On top of the cuteness the pizza was delcious! We'll miss you Alexey!!!

The weather finally seems to be cooling off around here after a couple of days in the 90's (hot for our region of France). I've been assured by a real french woman who lives in Thoiry that summer will truly be over on August 15th, so here's hoping. It wouldn't be so bad if the french believed in air conditioners and fans, but alas these remain truly mystical creatures that apparently have only been seen back in the States. Hope youse're all keeping cool back home!

Have a rosey weekend! (Wah-wahhhh...)

Bike love.

Maybe I'm just missing my bike, or overly excited at the prospect of it getting fixed tonight, but I'm currently in love with this one that I saw locked up out on Spruce Street in Philly last week. Le rad.

Swoon.

Bastille Day...

Bastille Day was on July 14 here in France, and we spent the evening with some friends at the salle de fete for the village's annual celebration.

There was a band (which inlcuded two different button accordion players)...

I'm told by an expert that this guy's was an antique...

There was some dancing...

There were some Stroms...

...and a raffle (basket and half-full bottle of Pelligrino not included)...

And then there's my favorite, the french line dance...

We then headed outside to watch the fireworks over the fields after a night of frites and bieres. Can't wait for our next village shindig! (Watch out loto night!)
