A rare day in Philly...

 

When I lived in Philly, one of my favorite things to do on a day off was to grab a coffee and wander around Old City. I would window shop, sometimes actually shop, visit friends, and take lots of pictures of the city I love so dearly.

Dan got to Philly on Friday evening, and after getting settled into the hotel we met up with friends at National Mechanics for dinner. After dinner we met up with more friends for beer, a live show and 3 am truck burritos at Johnny Brenda's in Fishtown.

 

{Fact: Burritos taste better at 3 am}

 

Six hours of sleep later we woke up to a full day off of being able to wander around the city. After working up an appetite checking out the Jonathan Adler store (which was new to me), and falling in love with every single piece in Vagabond, we headed back to National Mechanics for brunch and their weekend bloody mary bar...

 

 

...and while there, Beerbaumer (of Berlin fame) popped on down to grab a drink with us!

 

Post-Beerbaumer-time we headed out to check out the massive shelves at my favorite used book store, Book Trader, and picked up some new jams at AKA...
 

...before heading to Brave New Worlds to see my buddy and pick up the comics that were being held for me.

 

A quick hotel change and some takeout found me just straight up exhausted, and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep by 8:30 PM...
 

 

...because apparently somewhere over the last few years I officially became old.
 

After sleeping for literally 12 hours (hey, it had been a really long week), we had time the next morning to grab some donuts at Federal Donuts, and check out a thrift store or two in Old City before heading to the airport for Omaha...

 

...with a new sweet sweater, new jams, new reads, and 7 months worth of comics in tow.

 

Honestly, I really can't think of anything better than that.

Love la France.

So I know that I'm a self-proclaimed fall/winter type of chick, but weather like we've been having over the past two weeks, and especially the 60 degree weather of this past weekend, brings out the "Love la France" in me.

Sunday, as I mentioned, it was 60 degrees F, and we started the day out with a nice run up to Feigères, followed by a 2 mile hike while up there on a trail, and then ending with a run back to Thoiry. I think I could have stayed up on the mountain all day, except we had our Sunday market to attend, and we of course couldn't miss that. I was very proud of myself that at the legume stand I only spoke in french, though, not very pretty sounding french, but some anglo-version-of-french nonetheless...




Rolled up sleeves, newly popping up bulbs and light springtime coats were the order of the day, as we walked to some friends' house for a post-market-Sunday-brunch on the other side of town.





Even Mont Blanc came out to say hello.

Hello Thoiry!

On April 17th, with the help of our good friend Edgar, we moved all of our stuff into our new house in Thoiry. It took all day, but we were able to get everything out of Ferney except for our bikes. We celebrated with some drinks on the upstairs patio before calling it a night.

[GO FLYERS! BEAT THE BRUINS! AND GO PHILS! BEAT EVERYBODY!]

The next morning we headed out to the Thoiry market for the first time in awhile, and the first time as Thoiry-sians.

After procuring some goodies at the Thoiry market, we met up with Kim and Derek who had us over for a very special "Welcome to Thoiry" brunch at their house, complete with mimosas and vegan crepes. A little birdie must have told them that Philly girls love mimosas with their Sunday brunch!

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us in our moving process over the last four months - so many of you have done so many things, be them little or big, that have helped us in more ways than you know. We're so lucky to have such wonderful friends.
