The last of the bump shots.

{38 weeks and 2 days}

If you remember last weekend I was promised nachos, and wouldn't you know that the bump formerly known as Homekid obliged in waiting to appear so that mama could enjoy them.

{Cat eye glasses: flea market find, Shirt: Hard Tail (non-maternity), Leggings: ASOS Soft Touch Maternity, Scarf: Stephen Sprouse for Louis Vuitton (old), Shoes: Nike (old)}

On Saturday we headed out for what would unknowingly be our last week of bump shot pictures...

{Our neighbor's hoof collection...is just as creepy as it sounds and looks...}

...and some thrifting. I'm so glad we were able to get out to the second hand store before Oswin's arrival, because we scored an amazing teal velvet and wooden ottoman to compliment our Eames rocker in the nursery, a kitschy-folksy mountain painting for the nursery, and an armoire for Doc, all for under 50 euros (with delivery).

We also spent a little time walking around Centre Thoiry...

...and checking out the World War I monument. It was my favorite weather: cool and grey, with Dracula clouds over the Jura. I was so tired from being on my feet all day, but I just didn't want to go home.

But home we went, because there were nachos to be had and college football to be watched. Come Sunday we had no idea that we'd be heading to the hospital that night, 10 days before our due date. I wasn't even positive that my water had broken while we were driving over to the hospital, but apparently not everyone is a "gusher." At least Oswin let me get to halftime of the Eagles/Giants game, I appreciate that little one.

Next up, our first week with Oswin.

Styling the Bump: Studs and the Bump

{37 weeks and 3 days}

It's been a rough couple days here in SwitzerFrance for this mama-to-be, as Homekid is doing all those things he/she is supposed to be doing at this point. Moving, shaking, kicking, punching...essentially making mama super uncomfortable.

We had our first prenatal class on Thursday night, and then went into Geneva the following morning for a doctor's appointment that wasn't meant to be, (another one of my doctor's patients went into labor early that morning, cancelling our appointment), all of which left me so tired on Saturday that I just spent the day in bed.

I'm feeling a little better today, which meant a trip to the garden center was in order. We started our winter garden this afternoon by planting two different types of lettuce, with hopefully a third type next weekend. That is, if this kid decides to wait long enough for us to get the plants in soil...we're officially full term at this point, so whenever you're ready little one...

Jean vest: 36point5, from a little shop in Manhattan Beach, CA, non-maternity (similar here)
V-neck tee: Truly Madly Deeply from Urban Outfitters, old, non-maternity (similar here)
Skirt: Mamalicious Jersey Maxi Skirt from ASOS maternity
Flip flops: Havaianas
Turban: Porridge from Anthropologie, old (similar here)

Hope you've all had a killer weekend!

Styling the Bump: 36 weeks

{36 weeks and 2 days}

We're in a weird weather state for my maternity wardrobe, as it's too warm for a lot of my cute clothes, but I'm getting a little bored of the same maternity tanks and leggings.

So it was time to get creative. Same old same old, with the addition of my grandfather's retro bowling shirt from the 1940s/50s. I may not be able to button it all the way, but I think Poppy, whom I'm named for (though that's a story for a different post), would be proud that I was rocking it on Saturday.

Button down: Vintage
Hat: Goorin
Sunglasses: Ray Ban Wayfarers
Flip flops: Havaianas

Styling the bump: 35 weeks.

{35 weeks and 2 days}

Despite having a really busy day on Friday, I felt surprisingly ok after our day in Geneva. Typically after a day like that, I need a full day to recover, but I woke up Saturday morning ready to tackle some errands with Doc.

Now that it's cooled down a bit, I'm able to start accessing a new part of my maternity wardrobe, which meant I was able to pull this dress out for a spin. It's been so long since I've worn it, and thanks to my bigger bump it feels like a completely different dress. I'm excited to take this dress into the fall with boots and a cute little jacket. That is, if Homekid waits long enough to make their appearance...

Styling the Bump: 32 Weeks.

{32 weeks and 5 days}

Wow, it's been awhile since I've done a styling the bump post - maybe because all I've been wearing lately is Lululemon and Nike for my walks, as that's all that was comfortable in the stifling heat. Now that temperatures are dropping, I can finally break out some of my fall worthy clothes, including some of my new maternity swag.

Yep, I finally took the plunge and went over to the ASOS site to check out their maternity line, and I was very impressed. Up until this point I was beginning to think there were no options for my taste, at least options that were affordable, having been previously disappointed with H&M's summer and fall selection. I pretty much fell in love with everything on the ASOS site, and ordered up a few things to (hopefully) carry me through until the end. So far I'm very happy with everything, from cost to sizing.

Flip flops: Havaianas
Leather jacket: Mike and Chris (old), non-maternity - similar found here

Now if the temperatures can just drop enough to where I can break out the beanies, boots and scarves, I'll be the happiest pregger ever.

Ferney-Voltaire Market and Styling the Bump: 26 Weeks.

We switched up our routine a little bit this weekend and decided to head to the Ferney-Voltaire market, instead of our Thoiry market. For those of you long time readers, you may remember that when we first moved to France, we spent almost 3 months living in Ferney-Voltaire before finding our dreamboat place in Thoiry.

You may also remember my obsession with Voltaire's chateau...but I digress. As a result, there always has been, and always will be, a special place in my heart for this little French town, as a lot of my French firsts happened here...

...such as my first French cafe experience, my first French market, and my first time shopping solo in a French supermarket (more intimidating than it sounds, believe me).

The Ferney-Voltaire market is also a contrast from our Thoiry village market, in that it is much larger and has a bigger selection of pretty much everything.

So unlike in Thoiry, if you can't find something at one stand, you can probably find it at multiple others in Ferney...

...that being said, there are also more crowds, and you lose that teeny tiny village feel a bit.

{Voltaire's Chateau}

{Checking out some figs.}

You really can't lose either way if you're looking for that French market feel, at least in my humble expat opinion.

Oh and hey, why not shove a styling the bump post into this Monday post as well, shall we? (Read: This is the only day I dressed cute during week 26...)

{26 weeks and 2 days}

Dress: Hatch Collection, Date Night Dress
Hat: Brixton
Belt: Skinny skull belt from a little shop in Manhattan Beach, CA
Basket: Hand made from a woman at the Thoiry market
Flip flops: Havaianas

Styling the Bump and Things Making me Happy: 25 weeks

When I was back at my parent's house in April/May, my parents spoiled me a bit. My mom surprised me with a few new pieces from some local shops that were non-maternity, but flowy enough that they could work as I get bigger, and bigger and bigger. I'm very lucky for this because up until this point, I didn't have much that would have worked at that point (or my current point for that matter) in my pregnancy, aside from some of the aforementioned items.

Dress: Free People (non-maternity)
Belt: Same one I've been rocking the last few weeks, skinny skull belt from a little shop in Manhattan Beach, CA
Flip flops: Havaianas

And while on the point of pregnancy...

Things I'm loving right now:

1. I've been wanting to get a hot water bottle for what feels like forever (I have yet to see an electric blanket here), and we finally found my dreamboat one this weekend at a local shop:

I've never used one before but I'm excited to, at least once the temperatures cool off again for those 8 and 9 month pregnancy aches and pains.

2. Cherry Pitter:

Again, something I've been coveting for some time now. Man did it make a difference, compared to pitting them by hand. And it's perfect for someone like me who has a penchant for saving seeds. We used it to prep cherries for pickling, which hey, bt-dubbs, I'll be sharing that recipe this week, so make sure to check back!

3, Les soldes! We were able to score the drawer knobs for Homekid's dresser/changing table for a fifth of the price! We've finished the project completely now, so look for a Before and After post  tomorrow!

Things I'm not loving right now:

1. I've been breaking a lot of things lately, not on purpose of course. It's like I'm a bull in a china shop or something. An hour before people showed up for our 4th of July BBQ I knocked over the entire drying rack of wine glasses and shattered 3 or 4 all over the counter and kitchen/living room floor. (Which of course came shortly after the conversation "Wow, I really wrapped ALL of our glassware in bubblewrap for the move that didn't happen, didn't I?") Then yesterday, of no fault of my own, I opened the fridge and somehow a large bottle of what I can only imagine would have been a delicious german beer fell out of the fridge door and onto my foot. Luckily there was no blood, but the bottle shattered everywhere. I did have to pick two small pieces of glass out of my foot though, and our floor smelled like I had mopped it with beer. Ugh.

2. I'm not sleeping well, at all. You'd think after our hike on Sunday I'd have slept like a baby, but it turns out that when the baby is actually in your belly it's hard to get comfortable, even when trying to get a very well deserved night of beauty rest. Between not being able to get comfortable and the temperatures being in the upper 70s/lower 80s again, I'm not exactly jumping out of bed in the morning. Two tower fans for the whole house can only do so much...

3. Flies! I love that our windows don't have screens, but for about a 6 week period in the summer it becomes the bane of our existence. We are straight up surrounded by cow pastures and wheat fields, so our open windows at this point of the summer are like big "bienvenue" signs for horse flies and soon-to-be mosquitoes to wander and stroll about our place.

Styling the Bump: A Semi-Patriotic 25 weeks.

Happy 4th of July from SwitzerFrance!

What are you plans for today? We're having some friends over for a BBQ, and celebrating not only the birthday of the US, but also a belated Canada Day, Higgsdependence Day, and the early birthday of a friend. It's generally a bit of a science-y North American Day Party up in here!

Dress: Puella, from Anthropologie - another great non-maternity piece that I anticipate will carry me through to the end of my pregnancy
Belt: Skull belt from a little shop in Manahattan Beach, CA
Necklace: It's a silver zombie, given to me by my cousin. One of my most prized pieces of jewelry. Handmade by an artist in Philly I believe...

Sorry for the messy background in these shots, but with nesting comes a bit of chaos, as we're moving things back and forth between the nursery and our bedroom.

Hope you're off enjoying a hot dog and a beer wherever you're celebrating today!

Styling the bump: 24 weeks

We're back to typical June weather here in SwitzerFrance (60s, grey and rain), after that warm spell we had a week or so ago.

Just goes to show that you can't really ever put away your cold-weather-ware living here in the Jura Mountains.

Jacket: H & M (non-maternity)
Dress: Anthropologie (non-maternity, tag says "Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday") - by far the most versatile piece in my wardrobe at the moment. I'm anticipating this fitting me all the way to the end, though it's function will most likely change from that of a dress to that of a tunic with leggings by the time I'm huge.
Skull Belt: No brand, found at a little shop in Manhattan Beach, California
Leggings: American Apparel (non-maternity)
Rain boots: Chooka, from Gilt
